Three more persons, including a minor, were arrested on Friday in connection with the gang-rape of a 51-year-old Danish tourist at knife-point near New Delhi railway station on 14 January, bringing the number of those arrested in the case to eight. The Delhi Police is on the lookout for yet another two.

The police said Arjun (19) and Raju alias Chhaka (24) were arrested from Jamuna Bazar in North Delhi and Paharganj in Central Delhi respectively. These are among the eight ''vagabonds'' who had raped and robbed the victim after leading her to a secluded place close to the Divisional Railway Officers Club near the railway station.

Raju alias Bhajai, Mahender alias Ganja, and one Raja have already been arrested in the case and are in police custody. An Ipod and a Nokia mobile phone worth Rs1,200, both allegedly bought from the stolen money, were recovered from them, apart from cash and a spectacles case – the last of which looks like convincing proof, though the police of course won't say so.

The Danish tourist had arrived in India on 1 January. After a visit to Agra, she returned to Delhi on 13 January and checked into a hotel in the upmarket Paharganj area. A day later, she went to visit a museum near Connaught Place, but lost her way back to her hotel. She thereupon approached a group of men seeking directions, but was waylaid and raped for around three hours.

The victim left without waiting for a medical test, but said she would return to depose in the case if required.

"She may have left but we have got key scientific evidence in the case. In the hurry to flee, one of the vagabonds wore the victim's track pants while she wore his jeans, which will give us key DNA evidence to establish the perpetrators' identity," a police official had said earlier.
