Reliance-CBS channel to start beaming programmes tonight

BIG CBS Networks, a 50:50 joint venture between Reliance Broadcast Network Limited and CBS Studios International of the US, today announced the launch of BIG CBS Prime, probably the first premium English general entertainment channel for Indian television viewers.
The channel, which goes on air tonight, will be beamed across the Indian subcontinent, Reliance Broadcast Network Ltd said in a stock market filing.
Reliance BIG-CBS English entertainment channel will provide 37 hours of original content in a week as also near-live American content in India for the first time.
BIG CBS Prime plans to acquire films from Sony Pictures Television and NBC Universal libraries. The joint venture is also in talks with other international studios for film acquisition deals.
BIGS CBS will also have preferred access to all CBS Studio shows.
BIG CBS Prime will feature America's top-rated television shows from CBS Studios International, almost simultaneously with its showing in the US.
