The National Meat and Poultry Processing Board has set up a food testing laboratory in New Delhi, which would cater to the needs of food processing industries in the northern parts of the country.

Minister of food processing industries Subodh Kant Sahai inaugurated the Food Testing Laboratory of the National Meat and Poultry Processing Board today.

The laboratory would be of great benefit to entrepreneurs of the meat and poultry processing industries in particular and other food industries in general, the minister said at the function.

The world-class facility would satisfy an acutely felt need for ascertaining the quality, toxins and microbes in food samples in the light of the stringent quality controls on meat and poultry products in international markets.

The laboratory will also be useful for research scientists and other academics in this region.

The National Meat and Poultry Processing Board, launched as the hub for addressing all key issues related to meat and poultry processing sector, is expected to help in the systematic and proper development of this sector.
