Hitachi Plant Technologies Ltd is in the process of establishing local subsidiaries in Southeast Asia and India as part of Hitachi's accelerated global expansion.

''The local subsidiaries are being launched to speed up decision-making and create a system to clarify responsibilities," said Hitachi.

In addition, the new companies will engage in autonomous diversified operations and build close ties with customers and communities in their location.

While Hitachi Plant Technologies (India) Pvt Ltd  is scheduled to be set up in February, Hitachi will also set up companies in Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam in March 2012.

The Japanese industrial engineering firm's planned subsidiary in Singapore, Hitachi Plant Technologies (Asia) Pte Ltd, will oversee operations of local subsidiaries in Southeast Asia.

The Singapore-domiciled subsidiary will have supervisory control of region-wide operations to provide management support in areas such as marketing, sales, technology, and procurement, an arrangement which is expected to enable efficient allocation and utilisation of management resources and to strengthen global recruitment of human resources, training and corporate governance.

The Singapore unit will retain existing subsidiaries including Hitachi Aqua-Tech Engineering Pte Ltd in Singapore, PHPC Co Ltd Inc in the Republic of the Philippines and MHPT Engineering Sdn Bhd in Malaysia.
