German lighting group Osram has acquired Britain’s Ring Automotive in a move that would help the company gain access to the consumer market for auto accessories.

Osram, which mainly sells its products to manufacturers rather than end consumers, purchased Ring from Rubicon Partners.
Ring Automotive currently employs 160 and had sales of 40 million pounds ($52.44 million) in 2017.
Osram Licht AG is a multinational lighting manufacturer headquartered in Munich, Germany.
Osram was established in 1919 by the merger of the lighting businesses of Auergesellschaft, Siemens & Halske and Allgemeine Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft (AEG). Osram was spun off from Siemens on 5 July 2013, followed by listing of its stock on 8 July 2013 on Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
Osram is currently one of the guiding lights both in technological development and in the manufacture of high-quality products and solutions in various fields such as sensor technology and laser systems. Its product portfolio comprises high-performance light-emitting diodes (LEDs) – e.g. for automotive and general lighting applications – miniature LEDs for mobile devices, as well as infrared diodes (IRED), semiconductor lasers and detectors.
