Indian regulators to address exporters’ concerns in Pakistan

A high-level India delegation consisting of officials from the customs, Bureau of Indian Standards, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India and Export Inspection Council is visiting Pakistan to familiarise trade and business community there of Indian laws and procedures.

The visiting delegation, comprising sector and market regulators, is expected to provide better awareness to the business community in Pakistan of the Indian market and ways of doing business in India, the Dawn newspaper reported quoting official source.

The latest round of talks, to be held in Islamabad, was decided upon at the sixth round of commerce secretary-level talks between the two countries.

The Indian delegation will interact with business representatives in Pakistan to apprise them of customs procedures, regulations, standards and certification requirements for entering the Indian market, Dawn said.

The Indian regulators are expected to hold meetings with the business community at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry tomorrow and in the offices of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan in Karachi on the following day, it said.

Pakistan's commerce ministry said it would encourage all stakeholders to attend the various sessions so as to better equip them for doing business in India.
