Delhi Metro managing director E Sreedharan visited the Delhi Metro accident site today and inspected the clearance operations underway, for the fifth time in the last three days.

While the clearance continued since the collapse of the bridge here on Sunday, traffic was allowed in the area, which had earlier come to a standstill.

The accident site is located near Lady Sriram College, in Lajpat Nagar.

According to Delhi Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal, full traffic will be allowed in the next six or seven days after the debris have been cleared.

Delhi will be hosting the Commonwealth games next year. The city is gearing up for the games and the construction projects are expected to be completed before the games begin.

On Monday, three cranes clearing the debris toppled over injuring six people at the site, which had earlier claimed six lives. (See: Second mishap follows Delhi Metro bridge collapse)

On Sunday, around 5am, an under-construction bridge collapsed when one of its pillars dislocated, claiming the lives of six persons and injuring 14 others.

DMRC has set up a four-member committee to look into the accident and table its report in 10 days.
