A former employee of Wipro, who worked in its American operations for six years from 2010, has filed an employment discrimination case against the company.

Rex Trewin, a former global university recruiting manager, alleged in his suit that the company ignored his contribution and penalised him for stressing the importance of complying with employment laws and regulations, said a report in The Times of India.
“A copy of the complaint reviewed by TOI shows Trewin alleging that he was given more responsibilities without proper staff or resources after he complained to his reporting authority,” says the report.
The ex-employee claimed his service was terminated after he took time off under the Family and Medical Leave Act in November 2015, after his mother became ill.
Wipro, the defendant in the case, “has engaged in a pattern and practice of the systematic termination of its American employees, in favour of Indian employees,” alleged Trewin in his complaint.
The company later changed the justification for his termination by informing the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission that it related to ‘integrity’ issues.
The Bangalore-headquartered company told the paper that it did not comment on pending litigation. But it was “committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity and provides all our employees with a work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment of any kind.”
