Wipro consolidated Q4 net profit up 20.77 per cent at Rs1,209.77

IT major Wipro was up 3.56 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange on support from investors reacting to quarterly earnings and a bonus issue the company announced on Friday.

Wipro shares opened firm on the BSE and rose to a high of Rs728 crore, up 3.56 per cent.

The software major today posted 20.77 per cent growth in consolidated net profit at Rs1,209 crore in the fourth quarter ended 31 March 2010 as against the same period last year.

The stock surged 3.51 per cent on the National Stock Exchange to a high of Rs729.50 crore.

Wipro announced a bonus issue of two equity shares for every held. The proposal is subject to approval of shareholders.

The two bourses saw a total of 17.56 lakh Wipro shares change hands.
