UBS study ranks Zurich and Geneva world’s most employee friendly cities

According to a study by banking group UBS, employees in Zurich and Geneva gross the highest net income in the world while employees in Mumbai take home the least pay among the cities surveyed in the study.

The Swiss cities also topped the top five most expensive cities list globally in the bank's 2009 'Price and Earnings international study.

"With its extremely high gross wages and comparatively low tax rates, Switzerland is a very employee-friendly country," the Swiss bank said in a statement.

"No other cities allow workers to take home more income at the end of the month than Zurich and Geneva."

The study published every three years, compares the income and purchasing power of employees in 73 cities across the world and also highlights regional wage differentials across nations and regions within nations.

The biggest differentials were found in Asia, the study reveals with Tokyo ranking as one of the world's five most expensive cities whereas the capitals in developing nations such as Malaysia, the Philippines and India ranked at the bottom of the price range.
