Kolkata: The SL Ruia group is planning to shift its knitted grey fabric unit in Rajasthan to West Bengal. The profit-making unit located at Bhiwadi is engaged in manufacturing grey fabric and has knitting and garmenting facilities.

This follows the group’s plans of commissioning the biggest processing facility in eastern India for the manufacture of knitted fabrics. The West Bengal plant was perceived as being an expansion of Ruia Coatex.

The group, however, has not decided to consolidate operations at the new plant, though the thrust will also be on exports. The plant has been set up with an investment of Rs 40 crore and houses a 10-tonne-per-day capacity for processing fabrics.
