Tata Consultancy Services has been ranked second overall in the prestigious annual ''TOP20 Service Outsourcing MNCs in China'' poll conducted by Chinasourcing and Devott Service Outsourcing Research Center.
This is the fourth consecutive year that TCS has been on the list, and this year's number two rating has moved up from number seven last year.
The ''TOP20 Service Outsourcing MNCs in China'' award recognizes the leading service outsourcing multinationals (MNCs) operating in the China market. It is granted after several months of selection process that incorporates stringent criteria and processes. Companies are evaluated based on their operational efficiency, managing ability and scale of operations.
"TCS, a part of the prestigious Tata Group, provides high-quality IT and BPO services to more than 70 global and domestic companies in China with its professional and superior quality IT and consulting services and systematic business solutions. The organization is committed to Smart City Solutions and Banking and Financial services, which are in tune with the latest needs of the China market'', said Sha Qi, vice president, Devott Service Outsourcing Research Center.
''Focusing on improving clients' value and developing the Global network delivery Model has been highly valued by the Chinese government and TCS has proved itself in these areas. TCS China has also taken upon itself to foster a large number of local talent, thereby playing a leading and demonstrative role in the China service outsourcing industry and enterprise development. These outstanding achievements have contributed to TCS being ranked Number 2 among the TOP20 Service Outsourcing MNCs in China,'' Qi added.
Vish Iyer, president, TCS Asia Pacific, said, ''Being ranked so highly on the TOP20 list exemplifies TCS's position as a leading player in the local IT and outsourcing services market, and shows that the industry recognises the resources, capabilities, investments and outcomes that TCS delivers to ensure our customers' success in China.''
The Top20 award is the latest amongst a series of high-level recognition for TCS China. In July, TCS China was awarded the ''2013 Top 10 Global Service Providers in China'' by the China Council for International Investment Promotion (CCIIP).
TCS has been expanding its presence in China since 2002, the year the company entered the country as the first Indian IT company. It is the first wholly-owned foreign enterprise in China and now operates six global delivery centres in China (Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Tianjin, Shenzhen & Dalian).
TCS China currently has global and domestic clients from financial services, manufacturing, telecom, retail, automobile as well as the government sector. It has proven delivery capabilities in ADM, enterprise solutions, EIS, BPO-KPO, assurance services and infrastructure services.
In January 2013, TCS was conferred the ''Outstanding Contribution to China Smart City'' Award by the China Smarter City Forum. The Chinese Premier Li Keqiang recently visited TCS' facilities in Mumbai. The Tata Group was the only Indian private enterprise on the itinerary of the Premier during his three-day visit to India.
