Tata Consultancy Q2 net up 26 per cent at Rs1,251.6 crore

Mumbai: Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, the country''s top software service exporter, posted a growth 22.86 per cent in consolidated net profit for the quarter ended September 2007 at Rs1,251.6 crore from Rs1,018.7 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.

During the quarter, the company saw a 25.7 per cent jump in quarterly profit (under US accounting rules) at Rs1,247 crore ($317 million) from Rs992 crore a year ago.

The consolidated total income for the quarter climbed 27.72 per cent to Rs5,761.8 crore compared with the corresponding quarter, a year ago.

Net sales for the quarter rose 24.90 per cent (9.49 per cent quarter-over-quarter) to Rs4,576.9 crore, while the total income for the quarter climbed 27.17 per cent (7.97 per cent quarter-over-quarter) to Rs4,681.5 crore, when compared with the corresponding quarter, a year ago.

The earnings per share for the quarter climbed 23.11 per cent to Rs11.72 compared with the same quarter, a year ago.
