Tata Motors January sales up 19.6 per cent at 46,635 units

Tata Motors has reported total volume sales of 46,635 units for the month of January 2006 as compared to 39,000 units during January 2005. Cumulative sales for the period April 2005-January 2006 stands at 352,819 units.

Monthly passenger car sales by the company crossed the 20,000 mark for the first time ever. The company sold a total of 20,765 for the month, a growth of 15 per cent over January 2005. Domestic sales of Indica were 12,640 units during the month. The Indigo family sold 3,865 units while SUV sales were at 4,260 units.

The company's commercial vehicles division did very well during the month. Sales of light commercial vehicles for the month were 8,215 units while 13,086 units of medium and heavy commercial vehicles were sold. Total commercial vehicle sales of 21,301 units were 25.3 per cent higher the 17,003 units reported during the same month of previous year.

Total exports during the month rose to 4,569 units as compared to 3,943 units for Jan 2005.

Tata Motors is trading flat at Rs707 at 02.43 PM on the NSE today.
