Toyota Kirloskar unveils Prado diesel suv

Toyota Kirloskar Motor is targeting a 10-per cent market share in the sports untility vehicle segment with the launch of its rejigged Prado diesel Landcruiser in India, according to a top company official.
Toyota Kirloskar managing director Hiroshi Nagakawa, unveiling the vehicle in Bangalore said that Prado had sold more than 1.56 million units in over 170 countries so far and customer response in India since its launch in 2004 had exceeded expectations.
He said the company was looking at 10 per cent market share in the SUV segment with the launch of the new diesel version.
He added that the redesigned car would attract both genuine SUV buyers and car owners seeking to upgrade manoeuvrability with interior luxury.
The redesigned version boasts a number of improved features including a 3 litre diesel engine, adoption of Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System for driving stability in city and highway traffic conditions. Additionally it incorporates features like 3 zone automatic climate control, multi-information display and Down-hill Assist Control and Vehicle Stability Control.
According to deputy MD Sandeep Singh, the company would target active businessmen, industrialists and socialites who intend to make a style statement are in the 35-45 age group.
The car would be offered in five colours at an ex-showroom price of Rs52.74 lakh in Bangalore, according to Singh.
The new Prado which will be available in White Pearl Crystal Shine, Silver Metallic, Grey Metallic, Greyish Blue Metallic and Black would incorporate the 'Intelligent and Modern' design concept that aims to create and exterior with the active feel expected of a four-wheel dive and an interior that is both refined and roomy.
