Tata Power Q1 net up 34 per cent at Rs430.44 crore

Tata Power has reported a 34 per cent year-on-year increase in its consolidated net profit (after appropriations), at Rs418.57 crore, for fiscal first quarter (April-June 2011-12) against Rs311.67 crore in Q1- FY11.

Revenues for the quarter were up 12 per cent at Rs5,824.51 crore compared with Rs5,184.84 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.

Revenues from power business has increased 6 per cent to Rs3,720.30 crore against Rs3,504.81 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

Coal business contributed Rs1,990.69 crore to the company's revenues during Q1-FY'12, an increase of 29 per cent from Rs1,539.06 crore during the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

Profit before interest and taxes (PBIT) for the power business was Rs627 crore against Rs517.32 crore in the previous year quarter, whereas PBIT for coal business stood rose 77 per cent to Rs750.07 crore from Rs423.97 crore in the previous year quarter.

Tata Power reported a 5-per cent increase in its standalone net (after-tax) profit for fiscal first quarter, at Rs281.56 crore against Rs268.98 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
