Tata Motors on Wednesday launched a new offering in the Winger range, the Tata Winger Platinum, in Mumbai.

Winger Platinum is a seven-seater, designed to fulfill the needs of passengers who look for carriers but have to depend on utility vehicles.

Priced at Rs7.5 lakh, Platinum is expected to eat into the utility vehicle segment, and will be competing with M&M's Xylo and Toyota's Innova, who share bulk of the utility vehicle market.

Tata Motors claims that for a similar vehicle size, the Winger Platinum provides much more space in the passenger seating area, and is ideal for the taxi, travel and tours segments, which are growing rapidly in India.

Winger Platinum is also expected to almost double the sales of the Winger model, which was first launched by Tata Motors in 2007 as a 10-13 seater.

Tata Winger Platinum is available in two colour options, pearl white and cycus grey.
