Tata Motors August sales at 49,810 vehicles, growth of 14 per cent

Mumbai: Tata Motors' has reported total sales (including exports) of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in August 2009 at 49,810 vehicles, a growth of 14 per cent over 43,600 vehicles sold in August 2008.

The company's domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for August 2009 were at 47,126, a 21-per cent growth over 38,828 sold in August last year.

Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company for the fiscal at 220,978 vehicles, recorded a growth of 2 per cent over 216,062 sold last year.

Commercial vehicles
The company's sales of commercial vehicles in August 2009 in the domestic market were at 29,762, a 28 per cent growth compared to 23,231 vehicles sold in August last year. Light commercial vehicles sales were at 18,644, a growth of 42 per cent over August last year.

Medium and heavy commercial vehicles sales stood at 11,118vehicles, a growth of 10 per cent over August last year. This is the second consecutive month of growth in the segment.

Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal were at 130,226, a growth of 11 per cent over last year. Cumulative LCV sales were at 81,824, a growth of 34 per cent over last year, while M and HCV sales stood at 48,402 vehicles, lower by 14 per cent over last year.
