Sterlite bags Rs107 crore order from BSNL

Mumbai: Power transmission and optical fibre cable manufacturer Sterlite Technologies Ltd has bagged two contracts worth Rs107 crore ($26.7 million) from the state-owned telecom major BSNL.

The first contract is for supply of Sterlite's RIBBON -LITE 96F ribbon fiber optic cables that BSNL would install in about 900 cities across the country.

The second contract is for supply of 10 to 2,000 pair copper telecom cables. These cables would be installed at cities across India, to support the nation's growing demand for ADSL broadband as well as basic telephony in rural and urban areas.

Sterlite is currently executing an Ethernet network project in Mumbai.

The company said that the deliveries are scheduled between July and December 2008 as per customer requirements.
