Hyderabad: In response to media queries over the past few days on the impact of the Iraq situation on the operations of Satyam Computer Services, the management says the company's business activities in the region and elsewhere are normal.

Satyam's business presence in the Middle East is predominantly in the United Arab Emirates and Oman, which are considered to be safer locations. The company has, however, taken all necessary steps to ensure the safety and well-being of its people working in the region.

A team is constantly monitoring the situation and all arrangements have been made for rapid evacuation of the people if that becomes necessary. The company is also in touch with its people and their families, keeping them informed of the evolving situation at regular intervals.

Business continuity measures, which are standard operating practices in such situations, have also been kept in a state of readiness so that all business activities can be carried on as normal from different locations around the world.

Alternate communication links and backups are available to allow business to function as usual. Arrangements have also been made to relocate people at short notice, if need be, to alternate sites for seamless project operations.

Satyam's well-honed business continuity management systems (BCMS) leverages the company's global presence to provide alternate sites in various disaster scenarios. To strengthen BCMS, Satyam recently established a business continuity centre in Singapore.
