Korean consumer durable companies chalk out ambitious India plans

Mumbai: Changing its gear in CDMA handset market, Samsung Telecommunications India Pvt. Ltd. today announced the first of its many initiatives by unveiling India's first wide-screen CDMA phone "Wideo" available exclusively for Tata Indicom customers. The Wideo is a trendy high-end phone, packed with a host of Multimedia features.

Ltd, at the launch. "We have launched our new phone Wideo with an aim to revolutionise CDMA handset market and offer Indian customer world's best product. Wideo's high end multimedia capability and stylish design along with ease to operate will delight the upper class Indian consumer. We value our association with Tata Indicom and look forward to further strengthen Tata Indicom's Handset portfolio. "

Tata Teleservices Limited is launching 60X365 Offer exclusively on Wideo. Under this offer, a subscriber who purchases a Wideo will enjoy 60 minutes of local / STD calls free every day for a period of one year to any network.

Hyunbai Kim, VP & Head CDMA Samsung Telecommunications India Pvt. Ltd. stated, "The Samsung Wideo has been designed to put superior multimedia experience in your palm. Among the many slick and tremendously advanced features that this phone has to offer is a 262K TFT horizontal swivel screen, 1 mega pixel rotating camcorder with up to two hours of video recording, dual stereo speakers, 3D gaming, MP3 player, speaker phone and a pen drive memory with 45 MB storage space. Wideo also supports multimedia communications with multimedia messaging with capability to send and receive video clips. The Wideo allows access to exciting 3D games downloads, MP3 tune downloads, video-audio streaming and a host of other value added services on Tata Zone. Wideo has an in built modem for high speed internet access up to 144 kbps."

The Wideo is supported with a host of free accessories which include, longer lasting extended battery in addition to regular battery, cradle battery charger for independent battery charging, stereo headset, leather carry pouch and Data cable. Samsung Wideo is available in premium silver, priced at Rs21,999 along with Tata Indicom's 60 X 365 offer.

In addition, till August 15 the customer gets, free video, three ringtones and two 3D games downloads from Tata Indicom. According to Dinesh Sharma, head marketing and sales (CDMA) Samsung Telecommunications India Pvt. Ltd., "Samsung shall be hosting a specially focused website www.samsungwideo.com for Wideo. This shall be the first dedicated site for a CDMA handset in India with an online purchase option for the consumer. Samsung will also for the first time be focusing on online advertising for a CDMA handset apart from the conventional media."
