Samsung launches three new Galaxy series smartphones

With the success of its hugely popular Galaxy S smartphone, Samsung is looking to extend its Android-based Galaxy family of smartphones. Towards this end Samsung India has officially announced the release of Galaxy Ace, Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Pop smartphones.

The Galaxy Ace, which is powered by the Android 2.2 OS, sports an elegant design and runs on 800MHz processor, which will allow users to experience high web browsing speeds coupled with enhanced overall performance. It boasts of a 3.5" HVGA TFT display and features a 5MP flash-enabled camera.

Its Social Hub feature allows deep SNS integration, while with ThinkFree Office users can edit Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents. The phone offers up to seven homescreens for better personalisation. The device comes with a 2GB memory card expandable up to 32GB. The packaging includes changeable color back panels.

"Following the phenomenal success of Samsung Galaxy S, we wanted to expand our Android based Smartphone offerings in the Indian market in keeping with our philosophy of 'Smartphone for everyone'," said Ranjit Yadav, country head, Samsung Mobiles and IT. "Our new Galaxy series will enable our consumers to be more effective, productive, better connected, and in tune with their smart life - both personal and professional - all in a very easy and simple way."

The Galaxy Fit which is powered by a 600 MHz processor comes with a 3.3" QVGA TFT display. The device also runs Android 2.2 and allows users to access a wide variety of Android and Samsung apps. A number of the phone features such as Wi-Fi and HSDPA 7 offer seamless connectivity. The phone has a number of interesting features, including SWYPE text input, ThinkFree Office and Active Sync among others. It comes with a 5MP camera, expandable memory of up to 32GB and a 1350mAh battery.

The Samsung Galaxy Pop, a 3G-enabled Android smartphone offers fast downloading speeds and boasts of a 3.1" QVGA 16M TFT display and the Touchwiz 3.0 UI. The device packs a number of features, including a built-in FM radio, music player, a 3.5mm ear jack and more. The phone comes with a 3MP camera and operates on a 1200mAh battery to ensure longer talk time.
