SAP Australia is in negotiations with an undisclosed telco for a joint-in-the cloud offering. According to the company's head of telecommunications, Mike Robinson, discussions with telcos were fruitful but not finally resolved.

This comes as a confirmation of media reports in June that the firm was considering a hosted software-as-a-service (SaaS) product line.

Meanwhile financial results for the second quarter and first half of FY09, which ended on 30 June 2009 saw revenue surge by 16 per cent in Q209, compared to the same period last year.

Overall revenue generation increased 14 per cent for the first half when compared with the same period in 2008.

The key revenue driver of the business - software and software related services (that is, revenue excluding consulting, training and other services revenue) was up 17 per cent for the first half YOY and 10 per cent growth Q209 over Q208.

Tim Ebbeck, president & CEO, SAP, said the company was pleased with its performance in the first half.
