The Mumbai High Court has ruled that the KG Basin gas was not meant for any third parties other than NTPC, RNRL, or RIL, reports CNBC-TV18.

The court further added that no gas would be available to third parties from KG Basin till eight years.

It has put on hold distribution of gas identified for third parties from 2008. The HC said that the initial production of 80 mmscmd was earmarked for NTPC, RIL and RNRL.

The court further noted that it was inappropriate for RIL to commit gas, when that was subject of RNRL petition. The court also ruled that RIL was not free to negotiate gas with third parties.
