Reliance Communications (RCom) has entered into inter-circle roaming partnerships with leading telecom companies to offer 3G services to its GSM customers while on roaming. The agreements have been signed on a pan-India basis, even though the company controlled by billionaire Anil Ambani did not disclose the name of the operators.

With this alliance, all RCom's 3G customers will be able to access high-speed pan-India 3G services while roaming outside its own 3G circles, the company said in a statement.

''We are delighted to be the first operator to offer 3G national roaming to our customers in partnership with other telecom firms having state-of-the-art 3G networks. These alliances will further consolidate RCom's position as the leading data operator in the country and will help the company improve its post-paid and corporate customer market share,'' Gurdeep Singh, CEO, consumer business, Reliance Communications, said.

''We have always delivered innovative products and services to our customers with incredible affordability and, at RCom, we strongly believe in connecting every Indian and bringing about a discernible change not just in their lifestyles, but in their lives as well,'' he added.

RCom offers 3G services in 13 circles - Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa, Assam, North East and Jammu & Kashmir.

With the new 3G roaming partnerships with other leading Indian telecom companies, RCom customers can now enjoy 3G data services across the country on roaming, it added.

RCom's 3G customers in Delhi and Mumbai will now also be able to avail of the same quality of 3G data services when roaming.

RCom is the leading data operator in the Indian telecom industry. For the quarter ended December 31, 2013, the company had 36.2 million data customers, including 11.1 million 3G customers, making up the largest 3G customer base in the industry.

The company's shares were up nearly 1 per cent at Rs 133.10 on Monday.
