RPG BPO unit Zensar Technologies to buy US-based Akibia for Rs300 crore

Zensar Technologies, a software and business process outsourcing (BPO) services unit of the Rs17,000-crore RPG Group, is acquiring Akibia, a unit of the US-based PSI Holdings, for Rs300 crore ($66 million), to strengthen its position in the critical and fast growing infrastructure management space.

Founded in 1998 as Polaris Service, Massachusetts-based Akibia provides innovative IT solutions that enable leading companies worldwide to optimise, secure, manage and support their mission-critical infrastructure.

As an independent advisor, Akibia partners with its customers to deliver solutions that improve the availability and performance of their data centre and security infrastructure.

With clients like Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Verizon and Goldman Sachs, Akibia helps organsations maximise the value of their existing infrastructure, while mitigating risk and reducing complexity.

With over 300 employees, Akibia had reported revenues of $100 million last year and net profit of $9 million.

Pune-based Zensar Technologies, with 2010 revenues of Rs505.23 crore ($114.69 million), is a global information technology services and BPO services provider offering a range of services to Fortune 500 companies.
