Reliance Industries' (RIL) reign as the most valuable Indian company has lasted just over two weeks. With a 4.32-per cent surge in its stock price yesterday, PSU oil major ONGC has reclaimed the top spot – which it had held for more than four years till RIL took over last month.

At yesterday's closing prices, ONGC had a total market capitalisation of Rs179,441 crore as compared to RIL's Rs1,78,871 crore. The ONGC stock has gained another 3.5 per cent in early trades today, increasing the lead over RIL even further.
