Datsun opens bookings for 'redi-Go' priced Rs2.5 lakh

Nissan-owned low-cost car maker Datsun has opened pre-launch bookings for its much-awaited, 'Datsun redi-GO' urban-cross, a compact hatchback-crossover fusion. The Datsun redi-GO which opened for pre-booking from 1st May, 2016 would be delivered to new owners from June 2016.

The Datsun redi-GO will be priced between Rs2.5 lakh and 3.5 lakh and the ex-showroom prices and variants will be announced during its launch in June. The vehicle can be pre-booked with a fully refundable down payment of Rs5,000 at Nissan dealerships across India. Currently, the company operates 217 outlets across 165 cities, and has plans to establish 300 sales and service outlets by the end of March 2017.

Prospective customers can also book the Datsun redi-GO online through, India's leading ecommerce platform.

The new Datsun hatchback was showcased as concept at the Auto Expo 2014 and the company had been perfecting the production-spec model for the past two years. The redi-Go will take on the Kwid, the small car of Renault India that took the segment by storm. The competition is expected to get tougher with the arrival of the redi-Go.

The Kwid draws power from a 799cc 3-cylinder petrol motor, which delivers 53bhp at 5,678 rpm and a peak torque of 72Nm at 4,386 rpm mated a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Datsun Redi-Go features the exact same engine with identical specifications under an arrangement  between Renault and Nissan who have an alliance.
