New Delhi: NIIT, the computer education company, has said that it has bought CognitiveArts, a provider of custom knowledge solutions for corporates in the US.

CognitiveArts was formed in 1994 as a commercial spin-off of the Northwestern University and benefited from the multimillion-dollar investments in cognitive research by major corporate and government sponsors. NIIT did not divulge how much it paid for buying the firm.

NIIT Technologies, the software business of NIIT, is steadily building its global knowledge solutions practice. “This acquisition is a key element of our strategy to address the attractive US corporate knowledge solutions market,“ says NIIT Technologies president Arvind Thakur.

“Corporate America is increasingly looking for complete solutions, spanning consulting, design and development of knowledge solutions. CognitiveArts will enable NIIT Technologies to rapidly increase its pace of growth in the US knowledge solutions market, and it will position us with unique strengths in the global market,“ adds Thakur.
