Microsoft Gaming Witz

New Delhi: Microsoft India today announced the winners of the Microsoft Gaming Witz, a fun-filled gaming contest, where students from over a 100 schools from different parts of the country participated.

Students competed at two different types of games by Microsoft Strategy Games and Speed Games. The Speed Games category featured the immensely popular Mid Town Madness 2 while Age of Empires 2 was the focus in the Strategy Games category.

Microsoft India was the event sponsor for the Samsung Digiwitz, an inter-school talent festival that commenced on 18 August and culminated with the two day finals held on 29 and 30 August. The contests were held in the computer labs at the Digiwitz venue. Demo CDs were provided by Microsoft for all participating schools.

Shikhar Garg of DPS Noida took away the first prize for Mid Town Madness 2 while Abhimanyu and Vivek Sinha of St Marks School walked away with the second and third prizes, respectively.

The finalists put their skill and strategy to test in Age of Empires 2 and the first prize went to Vihas Narasimhan, Aditya Dhar and Varun Saxena of St Andrews School, the second prize to Me Altamash, Amal Singh, Anirudh Dobre of Delhi Public School, Noida and third place to Dhruv Sood, Sachin Mathias and Arnav Chatterjee of St Columba's.

Microsoft gave away exciting and challenging games such as Freelancer and Impossible Creatures as prizes to the winners from both categories.

Says Mohit Anand, manager (home and entertainment division) Microsoft India: "We are very excited to be part of the Digiwitz event as Microsoft has always believed in encouraging young talent. We are delighted as Microsoft Games are becoming extremely popular in India with people of all ages."
