IIT students reach the finals of Microsoft Campus Challenge

Chennai: The three-member Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M) student team has entered the national finals of the Microsoft Campus Challenge, a software solutions contest conducted by Microsoft for college students. The team will compete against Vivekanand College of Technology, Mumbai and IIT-Guwahati in the national finals to be held in Bangalore on 18 February 2003.

The IIT-M team consisting of N Dhyanesh, P Balakiran and Milan Manawat won the zonal finals for developing a software that would help doctors and surgeons to diagnose and treat patients more efficiently.

Vivekanand College too submitted a similar healthcare solution while IIT-Guwahati students developed a B2B prototype for the Assam tea industry using XML web services. The finalists are required to build web services-based business applications using Visual Studio .NET and the .NET framework.
