New Delhi: Auto market leader Maruti Udyog Limited has announced a price cut on its premium car Baleno by Rs8,000 after custom duties were brought down in the Union Budget presented on Tuesday. The company has passed on the custom duty reduction to the customer effective today.

With this, the ex-showroom price (Delhi) of Baleno LXi comes down from Rs583,173 to Rs575,173 and that of Baleno VXi from Rs665,556 to Rs657,556, a drop of Rs. 8000 in each variant.

Maruti's models like Esteem, Swift, Versa and Gypsy have a very low level of import content, and as such their prices will not reduce further subsequent to the price cuts announced yesterday on account of the excise reduction from 24 per cent to16 per cent announced by the finance minister.

Since the Baleno has a higher import content and benefits from the reduction in custom duties. The company has decided to pass on this benefit to the customer.
