Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra yesterday said it would launch its pick-up truck in the US by the year end.

M&M president (automotive) Pawan Goenka told PTI that M&M would launch the compact diesel pick-up truck in the US by the end of the year to become the first Indian company to sell an Indian-made vehicle in North America.

Earlier in the year, at the Auto Expo held in New York, Goenka had said that

M&M would start rolling out the vehicles by the end of 2009-10 and would expect the shipments to start by early 2010-11.

Regarding the delay in the timing of the launch of the product Goenka attributed it to the changes made to the truck to conform to US regulations and American design preferences.

He said the company wanted to offer the best product to the American market and therefore wanted to be absolutely certain on all parameters before it launched the product.
