Lenovo launches Z2 Plus smartphone

Lenovo today launched the Z2 Plus smartphone in India, a rebranded version of the Zuk Z2 launched in China earlier this year.

The device carries a price tag of Rs17,999 for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant, and Rs19,999 for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant. The smartphone would be available online only from Amazon India starting Sunday midnight, in Black and White colour variants.

The Lenovo Z2 Plus is powered by Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with the company's own skin atop, the Z2 Plus features the Google Now Launcher preloaded. The device comes with a dedicated pedometer and industry-grade accelerometer.

The Lenovo smartphone also features the company's new U-Health app, and the hardware and software together make the smartphone a great activity tracker, according to Lenovo. The U-Health app which has been developed by the Zuk team can track data for steps, distance, running, and other physical activities. The Lenovo Z2 Plus is offered in a rollcage design, and a fibre glass frame.

The Z2 Plus is a dual-SIM (4G+3G) smartphone and supports Nano-SIM cards. It sports a 5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display made by Sharp, having a pixel density of 441ppi.

The device would be offered in two variants - 3GB RAM + 32GB onboard storage and 4GB of RAM + 64GB storage. There is however, no option to further expand the storage.

The smartphone offers a 13-megapixel rear camera of aperture f/2.2, PDAF, electronic image stabilisation (EIS) and LED flash. It has a a 3,500mAh battery along with support for Quick Charge 3.0 and to ensure that it does not overcharge it packs a feature called charge cut-off (ICC).

It offers dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth and USB Type-C port by way of connectivity options.
