Lenovo is working overtime to unite families separated by personal computing. It is putting together a PC the size of a coffee table that works like a gigantic tablet and allows four people to use it at a time.

The device would be known as the Idea Centre Horizon Table PC the first ''interpersonal computer'' as opposed to a ''personal computer.''

On first impression it looks like a regular all-in-one machine on the lines of the iMac - a 27-inch (685.8-millimeter) screen with the internals of a Windows 8 computer built into it. It can also stand up on a table.

However, it can be picked up off the table, its power cord can be unhooked, and it can be laid flat for games of ''Monopoly.'' It is big enough to allow four people around it, with the screen being capale of responding to 10 fingers touching it at the same time.

As a tablet, it is outrageously big, with the screen the size of eight iPads stitched together, weighs 15 pounds (6.8 kilograms). Like a flat-panel TV the latest offering is also almost homebound.

The Table PC would include plastic ''strikers'' for ''Air Hockey,'' and joysticks attaching to the screen with suction cups for other games, including multiplayer shooter ''Raiding Company.''
