L&T bags its largest power contract in Qatar

Larsen & Toubro's power transmission and distribution division has been awarded a Rs1,210-crore order for building sub-stations for the Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA).

L&T recently completed the delivery of six 66-kv substations for KAHRAMAA.

The new order forms a part of Qatar power transmission system expansion and is the single largest order for L&T's power transmission and distribution operations in GCC countries.

Larsen & Toubro will put up 13 extra high voltage (EHV) substations in Qatar, over the next 18-26 months.

The contract encompasses complete construction and civil works with a complete set of utilities such as air conditioning, fire protection, lighting systems and much more, L&T said in a statement.

The scope of the order also includes delivery of gas insulated switchgear of 220kV, 132kV & 66kV, associated cabling including external EHV cable diversion works, power transformers, 11kV air insulated switchgear, protection and substation automation system including DC system and auxiliaries.
