L&T third quarter net profit jumps 9.33 per cent to Rs840.6 crore

Engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro today reported a 9.33 per cent year-on-year increase in its fiscal third quarter (October-December 2010) net profit, at Rs840.53 crore against Rs768.8 crore in same period of the previous fiscal.

Profit after tax (PAT) excluding exceptional and extra-ordinary items rose 16 per cent to Rs811 crore in the quarter compared to the similar quarter of the previous year, the company said in a release.

The company also reported a one-time gain of Rs35.30 crore on divestment of part stake in subsidiary and associate companies.

L&T's total income, however, increased 39.16 per cent to Rs11,660.26 crore in the quarter ended 31 December 2010 compared with that in the similar quarter of the previous year.

Gross sales for the quarter ended 31 December 2010 grew 40 per cent year-on-year to Rs11,418 crore. Execution of various jobs on hand, is on schedule, the company said.

With order inflows of Rs13,366 crore during the quarter ended 31 December 2010, the company's order book has gone up to Rs1,14,882 crore as of end-December 2010.
