Chandigarh: Kingfisher Airlines commenced two new daily flights on Monday, from this Union territory to Delhi and Mumbai on the occasion of the locally celebrated  festival of Baisakhi. The first flight from Delhi was received by the governor of the Punjab province, Gen (retd) SF Rodrigues, who is also administrator of the Union territory of Chandigarh.

Kingfisher becomes the third carrier, after Jet Airways and Air India, to connect the two cities from Chandigarh. The carrier also announced special invitation fares for Delhi and Mumbai at Rs1,000 and Rs3,125 (both fares exclusive of taxes of Rs 2,375) respectively.

The flights are being operated with Airbus A320 aircraft, featuring personalised in-flight entertainment on every seat along with world-class service, the carrier said.

According to Kingfisher, Chandigarh will also get connected with Kolkata as the morning flight from New Delhi for Chandigarh would connect an incoming flight from there. The return flight to the nation's capital in the evening would also connect with a flight for Kolkata.

The airline also commenced four other flights today - two from New Delhi to Goa and Hyderabad, and one each from Mumbai and Chennai for Ahmedabad and Coimbatore.

With the launch of these new services, Kingfisher will now offer 250 daily departures from 39 destinations through 42 aircraft.
