Jet to fly latest Boeings

Jet Airways, the largest private Indian airline has ordered ordered 10 Boeing 787-8s valued at a total of as much as $1.58 billion to expand its overseas services.

The aircraft will be delivered between July 2011 and December 2012. The 787-8 has a list price of as much as $157.5 million.

Under the purchase agreement the company also has the option to substitute other models of Boeing aircraft.

It will begin taking delivery of the B777-300ER and A330-200 aircraft ordered in September and October 2005 respectively, in March-April 2007.

Jet Airways, which is owned by the billionaire Naresh Goyal, has added international services as increasing competition squeezes margins on domestic flights. The carrier ordered a total of 20 long-haul aircraft from Boeing and Airbus in 2005.
