Narayana Murthy to remain Infosys non-executive chairman

NR Narayana Murthy, executive chairman and chief mentor of Infosys Technologies, would relinquish his executive responsibilities on 21 August 2006 as he turns 60. This is in line with the stated Infosys retirement policy.

However, the Infosys board has asked him to continue as non-executive chairman after 21 August. He would also retain his position as chief mentor of the company.

S Gopalakrishnan, more popularly known as Kris Gopalakrishnan, has been promoted as president and joint managing director of the company. He would also retain the position of chief operating officer.

Nandan Nilekani, CEO and managing director, has given up his position as president of the company. He will remain as the CEO and managing director of Infosys.

In other board level changes, former US Senator Larry Pressler has stepped down as an independent director of the company.
