Infosys Technologies Ltd has announced that it has become the first company to receive the status of an 'international super star service export house' in accordance with the provisions of the government of India's new export-import policy. The latest exim policy announcements, made in March 1999, introduce a separate chapter on ‘services’, which provides for recognition of export initiatives by service providers.

Nandan M. Nilekani, managing director, president and chief operating officer of Infosys, said: "This is one more significant milestone for Infosys and recognizes our export initiatives".

T. V. Mohandas Pai, senior vice president (finance and accounts) and chief financial officer, says: "We are happy to be the first company in India to achieve this status. We will continue our export focus and be a net foreign exchange earner
for the country."
