Railways carry 247.05 million tonnes of freight during April-July 2007

Indian Railways have carried 247.05 million tonnes of revenue earning freight traffic during the first four months (i.e. April July 2007) of the current financial year 2007-08.

The freight carried shows an increase of 13.84 million tonnes over the freight traffic of 233.21 million tonnes actually carried during the corresponding period last year, reflecting an increase of 5.93 per cent.

During the month of July 2007, the revenue earning freight traffic carried by Indian Railways was 61.80 million tonnes.

There is an increase of 4.43 million tonnes over the freight traffic of 57.37 million tonnes actually carried by the Indian Railways during the same period last year, reflecting an increase of 7.72 per cent.
