Mumbai: Within a week of its launch, Hindustan Motors Lancer's limited anniversary edition has received tremendous customer response. The new model, the Lancer Exel, has already received 50 orders and numerous enquiries at its dealerships.

Launched to commemorate HM Lancer's five successful years in India, this limited edition of the Lancer will be available for only two months till December 2003 at all HM Lancer dealerships across the country.

The overwhelming customer response received by the Lancer Exel prompts HM to unleash its aggressive growth strategy for the midsize premium category. Beginning 2004, HM proposes to introduce a series of new Lancer models in the market. The company also has plans to expand its service network by end 2004. With these new initiatives, HM expects to further strengthen it position in the fast-growing midsize premium car segment.

Says HM vice-president G Shyamsundar: "Though we were hoping that the Lancer Exel will garner positive customer response, the actual number of walk-ins / enquiries about the anniversary edition have exceeded our expectations. The stupendous response to the Lancer Exel is a testimonial to Lancer's popularity among its customer base and proof of the car's superior quality, powerful sales and service network and its dedicated customer orientation. We thank our customers for their solidarity."

The HM Lancer Exel, featuring leather upholstery and wood finished interiors, makes for a unique style statement. The stylised wheel covers and the leather steering wheel give the HM Lancer Exel a chic look. The car also comes with an improved suspension and an exhaust muffler cutter for a smoother, quieter ride. In the interiors, changes have been made to the audio panel, heater control panel and air vent grille slides to make the car more trendy.
