Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), the country's second largest car manufacturer, has reported its 'highest-ever' sales expansion with a 15.1 per cent year-on-year growth in sales during the just-ended financial year 2015-15.

Hyundai Motor India sold over 4.84 lakh units between April 2015 and March 2016, and increased its market share above 17 per cent on the back of strong demand for the Hyundai Creta and Elite i20.

According to the figures shared by the Korean car giant, Hyundai sold a staggering 4,84,324 units of passenger cars in India, as compared to the 4.20 lakh in the previous financial year.

During March 2016, Hyundai recorded domestic sales of 41,201 units and exports of 10,251 units with cumulative sales of 51,452 units. This is an overall increase of 3.4 per cent over March last year

"Hyundai for FY '15-16 achieved an all-time highest volume of 484,324 units with 15.1 per cent yearly growth with highest-ever market share of 17 per cent plus on the strong performance of models like Creta, Elite i20 and Grand i10 with many innovations on product and channel under the vision of Experience Hyundai," said Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice president (sales and marketing), Hyundai Motor India.

Hundai India's local car sales showed positive signs in March 2016 as well with 41,201 units sold last month, which is a y-o-y hike of 4.2 per cent when compared to 39,525 units sold in March 2015.

Models like the Hyundai Creta compact-SUV, Hyundai Elite i20 premium hatchback and the popular Grand i10, each of which sells between 8,000-10,000 units per month, helped the Korean carmaker achieve the high sales mark.

In the coming months, the car maker is planning to introduce new models such as the refreshed Hyundai Elantra premium sedan and the new Hyundai Tucson SUV to ensure that positive momentum is maintained.
