Honda aims to double two-wheeler sales this year

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, an arm of the Japanese automotive company, is targeting overall sales of four million two-wheelers in India by next year, nearly doubling the overall sales volume of 2.1 million it recorded during in the last financial year.

Launching the Dream Yuga, the company's entry-level bike, for the first time in Madhya Pradesh, Makato Yoshii, Honda's deputy director sales, said the Indian two-wheeler market is one of the most exciting in the world and the company expects to continue to witness growth over the next 10 years and beyond.

The company has garnered a market share of about 14 per cent, and is looking to increase this with the commissioning of its third manufacturing plant in the country. The new plant in Karnataka will ramp up the capacity to four million two-wheelers per annum.
