Hero Honda posts Rs599 crore Q4-FY'10 net profit

India's largest bike maker Hero Honda Motors Ltd has said its fourth quarter net profit soared 49 per cent, surpassing forecasts on higher sales.

The company with a 26 per cent holding from Japan's Honda Motor Corp, posted a net Rs599 crore profit that notched an impressive increase over Rs402 crore a year earlier. 

Net sales were up Rs4,092 crore from Rs3,412 crore a year-ago.

Analysts had forecast net profit at Rs555 crore on net sales of Rs4,090 crore.

The company's sales at 1.2 million motorcycles and scooters in the quarter were up about 19 per cent from a year ago.
