The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has found that Google abused the dominant position of its Android operating system in India, using its "huge financial muscle" to illegally hurt competitors, reports citing a two-year probe by the regulator said.

A probe by CCI’s director general of investigation has found that the global search giant indulged in unfair business practices in relation to its mobile operating system, Android, according to reports.
After prima-facie finding alleged violation of competition norms, CCI, in early 2019, had ordered a detailed probe into the working of Google’s Android system.
Google, however, claims that Android has, in fact, led to more competition and innovation. Android has enabled millions of Indians to connect to the internet by making mobile devices more affordable, according to the company.
"We look forward to working with the Competition Commission of India to demonstrate how Android has led to more competition and innovation, not less," a Google spokesperson stated in a release.
CCI is expected to closely analyse the probe report and seek the views and submissions of the parties concerned before passing an order.
