Orange in pan-European mobile pact with Google

Orange has become the first mobile services provider customers one-click access to Google Mobile App on multiple mobile platforms in addition to a search widget on the Android mobile platform

Orange today said that it had becomes the first operator to partner with Google to bring Google Mobile App to mobile customers in Europe.

The Google Mobile App search has been tailored to combine Orange's own mobile search results, to provide content exclusively to Orange customers. For instance, Ligue1 football news in France is readily available alongside independent internet content.

Orange's own data shows mobile searches increased by 120 per cent over the last 12 months.

Olaf Swantee, senior executive vice president, personal communication services at Orange, says, ''As the first operator to partner with Google in this way, we are setting a benchmark for openness in the mobile industry that inspires our customers, builds loyalty and helps grow our business.''

The multi-year strategic agreement, combining the best in content and search innovation from both partners, is making mobile search and geo-location services even more accessible by giving customers one-click access to Google Mobile App via the Orange homescreen.
