Mumbai: Goodlass Nerolac Paints and the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce in India (BCCI) came together to sponsor "The Aged: Needs, Resources And Opportunities", a two-day workshop aimed at the city's senior citizens. Conducted at the 'Aji-Ajoba (Nana-Nani) Park' in Shivaji Park, Dadar, the event provided the participants with expert guidance through interactive workshop sessions on financial, emotional, health, safety and security measures.

Experts shared their views and suggested solutions to various issues that are a cause of concern to senior citizens. Information and counseling centres manned by organisations like the Dignity Foundation, Cancer Patients Aid Association, Rugnadhar, the Institute of Nature Cure that actively work for the welfare of senior citizens. A number of individual companies also participated.

Speaking on the occasion, H. M. Bharuka, managing director, Goodlass Nerolac Paints, said, "Community service in whatever little way possible has been a legacy for Nerolac. While it is important for us to grow our business, the general good of the community, which has allowed us to use its resources, is of prime concern to us. As we may be aware, in the past few years Bombay residents have witnessed an upsurge of several issues relating to senior citizens. As one of the large corporates based in the city, we assume responsibility to assist activities that provide support, guidance and direction to them."

Interestingly, Goodlass Nerolac Paints (group turnover Rs 850 crore) itself is a "senior citizen" that has pioneered a wide spectrum of quality paints for more than 80 years, and is the second largest paint company in India. A leader in the industrial segment, it manufactures a diversified range of products ranging from architectural coatings for homes, offices, hospitals, and hotels to sophisticated industrial coatings for most of the industries.
