GM India increases sales in July '06

Chennai: General Motors India Pvt Ltd has registered a 37 per cent growth in July 2006 as compared to last July. The company sold 2,450 units in July 2006 as against 1,866 cars in the same month last year. Car sales for particular models are: 1,302 units of Chevrolet Tavera,  309 units of the Chevrolet Optra, and 839 units of Chevrolet Aveo.

"The sales of the Chevrolet Aveo and the Chevrolet Tavera are to our satisfaction," said P Balendran, Vice President, in a release.

Gearing up for a major ramp up, General Motors India's Halol facility in Gujarat is undergoing an expansion drive to enhance its capacity to 85,000 units by the end of this year.
